RDP Kings Indoor Track team places first, Queens second at Running Room Grand Prix #1

Edmonton, AB – The Red Deer Polytechnic Indoor track team started the new campaign with a lengthy list of memorable performances.
At Running Room Grand Prix #1, the Kings placed first among male teams and the Queens wrapped up second among female squads.
The RDP Kings earned 62 points, leading the second place Concordia University Thunder (57) by five. Lethbridge College (49) followed in third.
The Concordia University Thunder women's team captured top spot with 60 points. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (48) earned second and the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (26) sealed third.
Collectively, Red Deer Polytechnic student-athletes finished with nine top three results.
First-year Halle Reid earned top spot in the women's 300 metre final (45.56).

Teammate Kammy Park, a Pharmacy Technician Diploma student, was third in the women's 600 m (1:54.85).
Then Reid and Park were joined by Lauren Pasiuk and Justine Larson in the women's 4 x 200 m relay, and the group finished first (1:59.11), over six seconds ahead of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks.
Reid, Park, Pasiuk and Larson finished second in the women's 4 x 400 m relay (4:44.49), less than a second behind Concordia University (4:43.62).
The Kings excelled in the men's 300 m. Red Deer's Axsivier Lawrence (38.82) took top spot and Jamaica's Kevin Edmondson (39.45) followed.

Lawrence continued his dominance in the shorter distances, placing first in the men's 600 m final (1:31.15).
In the men's 3,000 m, Ethan Duret (9:28.93), a first-year Bachelor of Commerce student, placed third.
Edmondson, Duret, Devin Saunders and Lawrence earned top spot in the men's 4 x 200 m (1:41.50), over three seconds faster than the Kodiaks.
The Kings finished fourth in the men's 4 x 400 m relay, only eight one-hundredths of a second behind the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings for third.
Red Deer Polytechnic will host Running Room Grand Prix #2 on Saturday, February 19.
