The Kings tripled the Vikings to start their 2023 year
Camrose, January 13, 2023 – As the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team travels to Camrose to battle with the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings tonight, they do so by putting their first-place record of 8-4 on the line. They are technically tied with the SAIT Trojans, but RDP has the tiebreaker due to their two victories against the Trojans. The Vikings and the Kings opened their 2022-2023 season against one another where both teams won on their home ice.
The Kings came out of the gate with a full force offensive effort as they tallied six goals enroute to a 6-2 victory over the Vikings. The last time these two teams faced off was back in the second game of the semester, but it was a different turn out with the Vikings nail-biting Red Deer 4-3.
Due to some technical difficulties with ACACTV and the livestream from the Max Maclean arena, there will not be much detail in this recap as viewers were not able to watch the game online, therefore no chance to record what all happened during the game. However, as you see below there will be some specific statistics relating to the game, hopefully to help what all went down during the game.
The player of the game went to defenceman Parker Gavlas (Business Certificate) as he finished the night with two goals, which happen to be his first two goals of his ACAC career. The veteran Chance Longjohn (Bachelor of Education) completed his night with three points giving him a total of 12 on the season. Lastly, the Workhorse of the Game, which is an award specifically for Kings Hockey, went to Ty Ettinger (Open Studies). He put forward a solid effort on the backend and came up with some big blocks. The final shots on goal were 42-34 in favour of the Kings.
They will be back at it against the Vikings yet again tomorrow evening at 7 pm inside the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
