Chipman scores late to lift Kings into tie with Broncos

Olds, AB - A goal by Kings first-year striker Ashton Chipman in the 85th minute solidified a 1-1 tie with the Olds College Broncos, providing the visitors with an important point in the standings. 

Both the Kings and Broncos played solid defensively. 

After a scoreless first half, the home team got on the board in the 62nd minute. Valentin Kirchner recorded the Broncos' goal - his fourth of the season.

With under five minutes remaining, Chipman beat Broncos goalkeeper Joao Batista from 30 yards out for the equalizer. It was Chipman's second goal of the season. First-year Jaeden Swartz picked up an assist.

 Kings goalkeeper Jared St. Thomas, a second-year Kinesiology Fitness and Health student, was named the Kings Player of the Game, making nine saves.

On Friday, the Lethbridge College Kodiaks shutout the Medicine Hat College Rattlers 3-0, earning three points in the standings and jumping over the Kings into second spot in the south. The Kodiaks have also played one more game than the Kings.

The third place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (2-1-2) will play the top seed SAIT Trojans (5-0-0) on Sunday, October 2 at 2 pm on the road.
