St. Mary's University Lighting pick up home decision over RDP Queens

Calgary, AB – The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens put forth a solid effort but couldn't down the St. Mary's University Lightning.
The Lightning, who are ranked sixth in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), held the edge in all four quarters and earned an 83-40 win.
The home team was up 40-18 at the half.
Macy Morning Bull led the Lightning with 10 points and seven rebounds by the break.
Over two quarters, Sylvan Lake's Sadie Jeffries scored seven points for the Queens, which included one from long range.

The Lightning outscored the Queens 43-22 in the second half and picked up the decision.
Amy Szymanek led the charge with 13 points, one block, and eight of the Queens' 30 rebounds.
Red Deer's Keanna Richards added six points.

After competing at Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Running Room Indoor Track Grand Prix #2 earlier in the day, Justine Larson chipped in with four points and two rebounds.
Queens Player of the Game Heena Sidhu contributed five rebounds, two points and a steal over 26 minutes.
Lightning Player of the Game Macyn Morning Bull finished with 19 points, two steals, and 12 of her team's 40 rebounds.
Hannah Helton added 15 points for St. Mary's.
Sophie Melin was unavailable for the Queens, once again.
As a group, the Queens shot 34 per cent from the field, 10 per cent from three-point range and 55.6 per cent from the free throw line. The Lightning responded with 37.3, 15.2, and 72.7 per cent respectively.
On Friday, February 25, the fifth seed Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (6-8) will tip-off against the seventh place Ambrose University Lions (3-11) on the road at 6 pm. The Queens have already punched their ticket to the postseason.
Then one regular season contest will remain against the Lions.
